You cannot think of Tuscan wine without letting your imagination fly on the hills of Siena. And in particular on the magical hill of Montalcino, where the most well-known and loved Tuscan wines in the world come from. A good example of this is this Brunello di Montalcino DOCG proposed by Piccini. Wine awarded by the most severe international critics and also appreciated by consumers, for its perfect location and typicality. Pure Sangiovese, as prescribed by the strict production regulations, the vineyards have their roots in soils rich in limestone and clay. We are approximately 350 meters above sea level, in a position that benefits from the sea breezes arriving from the Maremma. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and lasts for approximately 15-20 days. The most important phase, however, is the next one. The charm of Brunello di Montalcino, in fact, derives from the maturation period, during which the newly fermented wine matures and slowly absorbs the aromas and scents of the wood from the barrels. In this case the maturation lasts for approximately 3 years: 20 months in oak barrels, 4 months in barrique and 6 months in the bottle. Marketing then takes place no earlier than 5 years after the harvest. Red in color tending towards garnet, this Brunello di Montalcino is a wine with great structure, rounded, with complex notes of liquorice and cherry. In the mouth it is full, spicy and elegant, with soft tannins and a persistent finish.
